This Enterprise Ireland funded project, IaaS, is directed at SMEs. It is a service whose purpose is to target manufacturing SMEs in the Border region, with a view of identifying & implementing these new solutions. It is innovative because the disruptive technology solutions will accelerate the SMEs competitiveness & innovation levels. It was produced by the ERNACT Network in Donegal (IE).

This Enterprise Ireland funded service is directed at the technology provider partner. The service virtually captures our project partner's technology, which will be of benefit to them & the project's directory. It is innovative as we are using virtual reality technologies to create the 360 VR tours of labs and workshops. It was produced by ERNACT Network in Donegal (IE).

Innovation on Industry 4.0 for manufacturing businesses is much less likely if senior management do not have a good understanding of its benefits and consequently do not build an I4.0 strategy and undertake exploratory steps and champion such innovation. Having that understanding and capacity to is a key for resilience particularly of SME’s. Within this context, the project’s action plan in the BMW region has identified the need to develop services that can create more effective linkages between I4.0 innovation agencies/applied research centres within the higher education sector to accelerate the flow of I4.0 technology to businesses in the region.  

Provide technological knowledge (with a special focus on AI), expertise, and experimentation facilities to successfully strengthen the local economy with innovative digital technologies in the industry and public administration. 

ACTION 1  Support for creation of Open Platforms for the Adoption of Digital Innovation for industries from the 5 thematic priorities in RIS3 2021-2027 of Bulgaria  ACTION 2 Setting up a network of Demonstration Centers for Digitalization  

Envisaging the new EDIH in development, this Action Plan contributes to the consolidation of this hub in the first 6 months of existence. We intend to tackle the barriers to digital transformation by learning from our Slovenian partners experience.  This plan will have 3 main activities as follows: 1. Mapping of digital and technological infrastructure of universities, companies, clusters and research institutes (based on questionnaires) 2. Meeting with the above organizations (mainly companies and clusters) with the scope to build the service delivery design 3. Promotion of EDIH, draft communication concept created  

In order to become more competitive, companies will have to invest in the qualification of human resources and in the acquisition of digital technologies. To take advantage of the opportunities provided by funding programmes, in terms of digitalisation, it is crucial to define a clear strategy to communicate the instruments available to support the digital transition of regional SMEs and to be aware of the specific areas where they need support. 

The aim of the FAST TRACK TOOL FOR DIGITALISATION OF SMES (FTFDS) is to increase the number of innovative and more digitalised companies at regional level, especially SMEs. The main activities of the project are to use four different actions at different levels in order to accelerate and to increase the level of digitalisation of the regional companies in different industrial areas. The action plan is an integral tool and perspective into an open innovation ecosystem and because of the knowledge exchanged developed in the DIGITAL REGIONS project.
