The European Commission’s Intelligent Cities Challenge initiative is a tailored programme of coaching and facilitation launched by the EU to help Derry, as one of the 100 cities selected, to develop and implement digital policies that can transform day-to-day life for our residents, businesses, workers and entrepreneurs.

In addition to making a valuable contribution to realising the city's Strategic Growth Plan 2017-2032, this initiative will greatly improve the visibility of the Derry City and Strabane District Council area at European level and increase the city's attractiveness as a location for knowledge-intensive investment. Our participation will give us access to the support and resources needed to allow us to accelerate our digital transformation, to take full advantage of the fourth industrial revolution and to become more productive, more innovative and a better place to live.

Derry/Londonderry will receive support in the form of European Union-appointed digital transformation experts in Brussels and will give us opportunities to network and benchmark with other European cities via a series of capacity building and networking seminars.
