A sweet project ending in Romania

NICHE project has reached its final stage and has successfully organised an international knowledge exchange in Timisoara.
16 September 2019 - NICHE  project
ERNACT Romanian partner, Regional Development Agency of West Region Romania, organised an international conference in Timisoara, on September 11th, to showcase the final results of the Interreg Europe funded NICHE project. With this successful event, partners disseminated food policies and practices implemented in different European regions, their transferability potential for (re)designing food policies and outstanding examples of cooperation.

Over 100 people attended the conference organised at Vox Technology Park in Timisoara. Among others, international key stakeholders such as policy makers, support organisations for the food sector, universities and R&D centers, innovative food businesses, Interreg Europe representatives and local experts engaged with the partners in thematic and interactive sessions tackling global food trends.

Guests from Ireland, UK, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Greece and Romania representing organizations, research-innovation-development centres, government agencies, companies and start-ups with concerns for the food industry could learn more about support services for boosting innovation in food businesses, cooperation in food value chains, responsible food production and consumption and food policies at European level.

Commenting on this, Digital Communications Officer Ianire Renobales said that, "ERNACT partners have organised a fantastic final project event. They have spotlighted part of the local producers while highlighting the international expertise gained through a cooperation process that started in 2016".

Food Experience Tour
On the 12th September, Regional Development Agency of West Region Romania organised a Food Experience Tour in West Region Romania to enrich this networking and knowledge exchange opportunity. International project partners and invited stakeholders got the opportunity to visit local agri-food producers involved in Arome Proprii, a pilot initiative of West RDA to support local food consumption. Attendees learnt more from some of the local champions: Artisan Bread & Pastry Producer Prospero, Artisan Beer Producer Bereta, Balla Geza Wineries, Mirodenii de Gradina Paulis Spices Producer and Altringen local recipes.
