Údarás na Gaeltachta (UnaG) is working together with SAFER partners Foodintech and Wisar to bring new technologies to companies in North West Ireland.

This is the result of the detailed examination of the services provided on the innovation platform by SAFER partners made by UnaG in conjunction with all their stakeholders and consultations made to 20 plus client companies regarding the SAFER project which has led to the following pilots:

Pilot 1: Irish Fish Canners | Próiseáil (An Clochán Liath) Teoranta and Foodintech (SAFER partner)

Irish Fish Canners | Próiseáil (An Clochán Liath) Teoranta - Irish Fish Canners is the largest and only fish canning facility in Ireland, located along the “Wild Atlantic Way”.

The Irish Fish Canners currently do all their stocktake, goods in and goods out and preparation of value added products manually with spreadsheets. This is an ardours task and the manual nature of the task can lead to errors in recording data. They have no access to live information, which can affect their cash flow and planning.

The pilot will be a replication of an existing Foodintech sofware package. Several changes will be made to the software to cater for Irish Fish Canners needs. Foodintech, Irish Fish Canners and UnaG have been working on this for several months now via skype/email and face to face meetings. The pilot is progressing in a positive manner and their hope is to have a fruitful outcome.

Pilot 2: MOWI and WiSAR (SAFER partner)

MOWI is one of the largest seafood companies in the world, and the world’s largest producer of Atlantic salmon. The company employs 13,233 people worldwide and is represented in 25 countries.

The pilot with MOWI has not been fully defined or agreed yet. They are in the process of narrowing a list which originally contained several possible pilots including wireless oxyguard oxygen monitoring at Hatchery, feed bag tracking, wireless temperature and water quality sensors and monitoring of boxes of fish out/monitoring packaging stock to name some.
