'The smart eco-social villages pilot project and the future of Smart Villages' workshop will gather policy makers, rural experts and groups of stakeholders.
08 February 2019 - ERUDITE  project
On 21-22 February 2019, the European Parliament and the European Commission will organise 'The smart eco-social villages pilot project and the future of Smart Villages' workshop in Brussels, in which Inishowen Digital Hub (County Donegal, Ireland), funded by Enterprise Ireland, will be present. Inishowen Digital Hub’s presence is possible to ERNACT’s participation in ERUDITE (or Enhancing Rural and Urban Digital Innovation Territories), a project co-funded by Interreg Europe Programme which has contributed to the definition and approval of the hub.

ERUDITE participates in the EU Network for Rural Development and it has been listed as one of the most relevant projects developed under EU's Research and Innovation programmes.

This event bring a good opportunity to share our initiative with a wider group of EU stakeholders, policy makers, members of the European Parliament, rural experts, representatives from the territory and citizens.

From Donegal to Europe
According to ERUDITE project representatives, "many European networks and organisations are actively developing and sharing ideas for smart villages. These actors often operate within different policy fields, therefore there is much to be learned from linking them more closely". ERUDITE aims to assist rural and more marginal urban regions across Europe to develop, design, implement and improve digital services that capitalise on the potential offered by High Speed Broadband Networks and catalyse regional innovation capacity.

The Inishowen Digital Hub is a good example of how EU regions can benefit from digital services contributing to their socioeconomic development

Stay tuned!
