Following a very successful first workshop in September (which helped develop a digital vision for the city), Derry City and Strabane District Council, in conjunction with ERNACT, invited local stakeholders back for the second Digital Cities Challenge workshop, to identify a strategy to realise the vision.

Held on the 6th December, the workshop provided an opportunity for interested stakeholders to contribute to the development and implementation of the city’s digital vision and ambition. The goal was to end the workshop with a clear strategy for tackling the areas of the city’s digital maturity that are most in need of focus.

Over 35 participants attended the workshop at Catalyst Inc in Derry~Londonderry. Afterwards, participants were asked to provide some feedback on the workshop, saying:

“It brought key stakeholders together to address various themes in relation to digital cities and issues beyond this, but which play an important role.”

“Great to be involved from the outset and see the strategy and how it is being developed.”

“I am interested in helping to shape Derry's digital industries strategy and to help this sector grow.”

“The team came up with a strategy that is achievable if executed correctly.”

The city of Derry~Londonderry participates in the Digital Cities Challenge initiative as a Fellow city. The next stage will be to identify, plan and fund the actions and projects that will accomplish the city’s digital strategy.
