On the day, Mayors from cities across Europe (40 have been invited) will meet for the first time to take advantage of this unique opportunity to inspire and get inspired. Active participation in the Digital Cities Challenge can help cities to achieve their digital transformation ambitions, foster synergies and be part of an innovative network that can boost growth, productivity and well-being.

Councillor Boyle observed: “I see this as an opportunity to discuss our Growth Plan directly with Mayors’ from other European cities and receive feedback from European Commission experts on how digital transformation can help us accelerate the plan.”

Since January 2018, Derry City and Strabane District Council has been participating as a fellow city in the Digital Cities Challenge, an initiative of the European Commission to stimulate economic growth and societal well-being through digital transformation and to make European cities more innovative and better places to live.
