30 April 2018 - DIGITAL REGIONS  project
The beautiful region of South Ostrobothnia (in Finnish: Etelä-Pohjanmaa) is located in Western Finland. Its uniqueness lies in its original culture, rich history and entrepreneurial spirit. Perhaps more obviously than any other Finnish region, South Ostrobothnia has a cultural identity of its own stemming from history, dialect and folklore.

The region is renowned for its vast fields as well as numerous rivers. The horizon beyond the plains of Ostrobothnia seems to stretch further than anywhere else in Finland. Shimmering rivers wind through the lush countryside dotted with red ochre farms, making it a view worth watching. In late summer the fields turn golden and then silver from the sparkling frost. This is authentic Ostrobothnia that brings observers a sense of ease.

The regional centre of South Ostrobothnia is Seinäjoki, home to about 62,000 inhabitants. The excellent traffic connections turn the region into an easily accessible touristic destination. It only takes approximately three hours by train from Helsinki to get there.

In developing the region, a special focus is given to strengthening the fields of food production, food culture and primary production. In the future, versatile service know-how, technology and design will also be invested in, and environmental values as well as sustainable development continue to be strongly present in their development and application.

DO IT LIKE DUDESONS!
People in South Ostrobothnia are regarded as independent, straight and honest as well as stubborn and hardworking. In bygone days, they had knife-fighters, häjyt, but nowadays they prefer doing things the Dudesons way: Live hard, live your dream!
