Seven more cities selected for the Digital Cities Challenge

Making cities more liveable, more productive and more innovative.
21 March 2018 - DIGITAL REGIONS  project
The Digital Cities Challenge is a tailored programme of coaching and facilitation launched by the European Commission to help fifteen cities develop and implement digital policies that can transform day to day life for residents, businesses, workers, and entrepreneurs.

Having already kicked off with eight cities earlier this year, the Digital Cities Challenge has completed its selection process with the addition of seven more cities with the potential to unlock unreleased potential by putting advanced technologies at the service of their citizens. Alcoy (Spain), Arad (Romania), Grand-Orly Seine Bièvre (France), Guimarães (Portugal), Kavala (Greece), Pori (Finland), and Rijeka (Croatia) will join Patras (Greece), Granada (Spain), L’Aquila (Italy), Ventspils (Latvia), Algeciras (Spain), Thessaloniki (Greece), Sofia (Bulgaria) and ERNACT partner in the CLEAN project Iași (Romania) to receive free coaching and facilitation from high level experts as they embark on their digital transformation journeys.

The programme will create a network of collaboration that will also feature blueprint cities from the European Commission initiative that was the predecessor to the Digital Cities Challenge, and fellow cities invited to follow the programme using their own resources. For regular updates and to join the conversation about digital transformation in Europe’s cities follow the hashtag #DigitalCitiesChallenge on Twitter.
