You can apply with your own project or nominate an energy champion if you know another initiative that would merit EU-wide recognition.
23 January 2018 - DIGITAL REGIONS  project
As part of EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), recognition is given to outstanding innovation in energy efficiency and renewables in the form of an EU Sustainable Energy Award, and call for submissions for the 2018 edition is now open.

You can apply with your own project or nominate 'an energy champion' if you know another initiative that would merit EU-wide recognition.
All submissions will be screened by experts to identify and shortlist the most successful projects for clean, secure and efficient energy. A high-level jury will select the best projects, and winners will be announced in an awards ceremony during EU Sustainable Energy Week which will take place 4th-6th June 2018, in Brussels. European citizens will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite initiative.

Who can apply?
An innovative solution can be considered for an award if it is based in an eligible country, has a practical application that can be replicated elsewhere, and is ongoing or ended after June 2018. In addition to being practical, the solution should have a long-term, real-scale application directly linked to renewable energy or energy efficiency.

What are the categories?
The four categories are:
  • Consumers
  • Public sector
  • Businesses
  • Young Energy Leaders
In addition, a Citizens' Award will be granted based on the results of an online vote by the general public.

What is the selection criteria?
Initiatives will be judged based on three assessment criteria:
  • Excellence and innovation (originality, driving changes towards energy transition)
  • Impact and contribution to the EU's 2020 and 2030 sustainable energy objectives (measurable impact, socio-economic benefits, environmental effects)
  • Replication potential and social acceptance (transferability, positive societal feedback)
The deadline for applications is 23 February 2018.
