Donegal County Council and Derry City and Strabane District Council hold joint meeting to discuss the formulation of a Regional Energy Strategy.
14 November 2017 - SECURE  project

As part of a series of joint meetings between Donegal County Council and Derry City & Strabane District Council, our partners have held a joint stakeholder meeting in the County House Lifford (Donegal, Ireland) on Friday 10th November.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the formulation of a Regional Energy Strategy for the North-West Region of Ireland and to share some of the learning that Tipperary Energy Agency could give in this regard. Donegal County Council (DCC) and Derry City & Strabane District Council (DCSDC) see the development and implementation of a Regional Energy Strategy as a key objective for the delivery of the SECURE project.

Both partners have identified energy security, reliability and cost as key elements to becoming a smarter energy community. Thus, officers from both councils have been engaged in the development of a Regional Energy Strategy which will address these issues through better energy efficiency, the integration of renewable energy, the maintenance and development of the energy network, the need to reduce cost and to establish innovative ways of generating and using energy.

Both Councils see the benefits and opportunities of shaping the future energy delivery to their citizens as key to the region to attract investment, create jobs and to make it a better place to live in.
