The annual four-day event European Week of Regions and Cities will be held in Brussels (Belgium), from the 9th to the 12th of October. This year, the event is celebrating its 15th anniversary with the 'Regions and Cities working for a better future' headline.

During these days, different cities and regions have the opportunity to showcase their capacity to implement European Union cohesion policy or to create growth and jobs. It usually welcomes thousands of people, European decision-makers or experts, that are attending several key events, workshops and exhibitions.

About the agenda
The European Week of Regions and Cities will hold 130 workshops, networking events and project visits organised in Brussels. Moreover, there will also be a Master Class for PhD students in regional policy; RegioStars Awards Ceremony and Official Reception on the 10th of October, a media programme and networking facilities, among others.

Under the headline 'Regions and cities working for a better future', the programme tackles three main themes:
  • Building resilient regions and cities – #LocalResilience
  • Regions and cities as change agents – #TakeAction
  • Sharing knowledge to deliver results – #SharingKnowledge
It is remarkable that 28 partnerships of regions and cities, 14 Directorates-General of the European Commission, several networks, associations and other institutions have partnered up for it. The Opening session takes place on the 9th of October in the European Parliament.

The European Week of Regions and Cities also promotes different side events that are linked to the thematic priorities, although they are not included in the official programme.
