The pilot focuses on building a digital platform that will help municipal employees of Örnsköldsvik share & improve ideas to solve challenges at work
20 January 2025 - INNOCAP  project
In November 2024, the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme funded INNOCAP project partners Kommunförbundet Västernorrland (ALAV) and Municipality of Örnsköldsvik participated in an inspiring seminar and workshop on digitalisation opportunities in Västernorrland (Sweden). The event, hosted by Europa Direkt Härnösand in collaboration with Härnösand Municipality, Digitalidag, and Bron Innovation, took place at the Härnösand Library.

During the event, Osman Saidabdala from Kommunförbundet Västernorrland and Mikael Bergström from the Municipality of Örnsköldsvik presented INNOCAP project to an audience of academics, industry representatives, municipal officials, and students from the Technical Program at Teknikcollege. The presentation aimed to spread awareness of INNOCAP’s goals while fostering valuable connections with key stakeholders eager to strengthen the role of digitalisation in the region. Additionally, they presented their INNOCAP pilot service, a digital innovation platform to empower municipal employees to develop, share, and grow ideas.

Their pilot project focuses on building a digital platform that will help municipal employees of Örnsköldsvik create, share, and improve ideas to solve challenges at work. These ideas aim to make work more efficient, tackle social issues, and improve the quality of services offered to the general public.

A platform for collaboration and inspiration
In total, 14 EU-funded digitalisation projects were showcased during the workshop’s rapid and informative sessions. Attendees had the chance to hear about innovative initiatives, including The Bridge Project, Immerse, MetaCity, Health Data Sweden, and more. Each project highlighted unique approaches to leveraging digital technology for regional development. The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth (Tillväxtverket) provided a great presentation on the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), offering insights into funding opportunities for digitalisation projects within the EU.

Strengthening Networks for Regional Development
The event concluded as a resounding success, providing a platform to share experiences, gain inspiration, and deepen the network of professionals and organizations dedicated to advancing digitalization in Västernorrland.
