ERNACT Network Secures €4.2 Million, Including €1 Million for North West City Region, to Drive Healthcare Innovation and Green Digital Transformation in Europe
13 January 2025 - ERNACT  project
The ERNACT network has secured €4.2 million in funding for two groundbreaking projects – HUMAN and MINDSET – through the Interreg Europe and Northern Periphery and Arctic Programmes. Of this amount, €1 million will directly benefit the North West City Region, further establishing it as a hub for digital innovation and green transformation.

These projects address critical challenges in healthcare and sustainable development, delivering citizen-focused, innovative solutions that will shape the future of Europe’s digital and green landscapes.

Cllr Conor Heaney, ERNACT Chairperson and Councillor for Derry City & Strabane District Council, said:

“This funding is a testament to the exceptional work being done by ERNACT in positioning the North West City Region as a leader in digital transformation. By addressing critical challenges in healthcare and sustainability, these projects will not only benefit our region but also set a standard for innovation across Europe.”

Headquartered in CoLab at the Atlantic Technological University Campus in Letterkenny, ERNACT is highly regarded across Europe for its expertise in managing complex EU innovation projects. Its skilled team collaborates with public sector organisations, including local and regional governments, universities, and technology partners, to drive transformative initiatives with real community impact.

Dr Caitriona Strain, ERNACT General Manager, commented:

“This funding underscores the strength of our European partnerships and reflects ERNACT’s commitment to advancing digital transformation and sustainable development across our network.”

HUMAN unites organisations from ten EU member states and accession countries, including Ireland, Sweden, Germany, Portugal, Hungary, Slovenia, Cyprus, Switzerland, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. MINDSET brings together five leading organisations from Ireland, Sweden, and Finland. Key Irish partners include Donegal County Council and the HSE.
