As one of 64 cities and city regions across Europe, the Ireland’s North-West City Region is actively participating in the European Commission's Intelligent Cities Challenge 2.0 initiative (ICC). This event marks our commitment to playing a pivotal role in achieving the goals set forth by the European Commission, with a specific focus on green and digital transitions.
Through the Intelligent Cities Challenge 2.0, we are dedicated to fostering Local Green Deals (LGD), aimed at creating tangible actions for change through strategic public-private partnerships. These partnerships bring together businesses, local authorities, and communities to drive sustainable initiatives forward.
The "Grow Eat Compost Repeat" LGD showcases a circular economy solution where biodegradable garden and park waste is converted into regenerative soil. This soil is then used by communities and businesses alike. Led by KPM Soils and supported by Donegal County Council, this initiative brings together a large community of biodegradable garden and park waste donors and regenerative soil users to create a community-wide circular economy solution.
