The SEE BRIDGE project, co-funded by the European Commission and in which the ERNACT network participates as a partner, celebrated its kick-off meeting on 14-15 November, hosted by project coordinator, the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporter’s Association (IMMIB).
The main objective of the SEE BRIDGE project is to provide support to increase the capacity of social economy small and medium-sized enterprises operating in energy-intensive industries and accelerate their transition to green and digital production. In particular, various training, consultancy and financial support tools will be offered in the project, which aims to help achieve the goals of the European Green Deal within the scope of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Thus, it is planned to increase information sharing regarding CBAM and other environmental regulations and to encourage cooperation and interaction between these enterprises.
Social economy refers to a business model in which businesses do not only aim to make profits but also focus on social and environmental goals. SE SMEs in the target audience of the project are businesses operating in energy-intensive sectors and face challenges related to green and digital transformation. CBAM will oblige importers in the EU to obtain carbon certificates corresponding to the carbon footprint of the products they import, which will impact energy-intensive industries.
During the project, which will last 24 months, effective activities will be carried out towards these goals:
