Nièvre Numérique from the Départment of the Nièvre (France) joins the ERNACT network

Nièvre Numérique (Digital Nièvre), is responsible for the digital development of the most rural county in the region of Burgundy-Franche Comté.

The ERNACT network of regions and cities is delighted to welcome their latest member, Nièvre Numérique (Digital Nièvre), representing the Department of Nièvre in France. ERNACT members work together at European level to add value to their individual digital transformation development efforts. 

Nièvre Numérique is a public Joint Authority, governed by a board of elected representatives from its members, and was created in 2006 by the Département or County Council of the Nièvre and the Agglomération of Nevers /Greater Nevers Urban Area. Since 2018, it has included the ‘Communautés de Communes’ or associations of town and village councils in Nièvre.

The newest ERNACT core member is responsible for the digital development of the county and is currently managing a key phase in the deployment of the county’s fibre-optic HSB network.
 
Welcoming the announcement, Jean-Dimas Malot, Nièvre Numérique Director, said: "After 10 years of constructive, innovative and beneficial partnership in 5 European projects Nièvre Numérique is looking forward to a new stage in its relationship with ERNACT as a full member, we are looking forward to contributing to the next 30 years of this flagship network and working with our European and Canadian partners to ensure a successful and inclusive digital transformation of all our territories."

ERNACT's newest member oversees the county’s Digital Strategy and the application of ICT to all socio-economic development. With their experience and expertise in strategic development at county level and their interaction with regional, national and European networks, they have participated in and produced reports, guides and publications, and facilitated workshops and seminars, for the (ENRD) European Network for Rural Development Thematic Group on 'Smart and Competitive Rural Businesses' and 'Smart Villages'. In addition, our members have contributed to events by the Broadband Competence Office.

Brian Boyle, ERNACT Chairperson, welcomed Nièvre Numérique to the network by saying that, “after a long and fruitful cooperation period, we sincerely welcome the county of the Nièvre to the ERNACT network. With the incorporation of Nièvre Numérique, our capacity to overcome Europe’s digital transformation challenges will be greatly strengthened. Bienvenue!”
