The ERNACT network is delighted to announce that we will host a virtual session during the 18th European Week of Regions and Cities under the theme of Cohesion and Cooperation.
The workshop, entitled ‘Disruptive Digital Technology & Cohesion Policy’, will take place on the 14th October from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm in cooperation with European Commission and Northern Periphery and Arctic (NPA) Programme.
Did you know that provision of public services is a major challenge in rural areas due to lack of critical mass, human resources and remote dispersed communities? We truly believe that disruptive digital technologies can help overcome this challenge by reducing costs, spanning distances and improving decision making while contributing to the achievement of Europe’s twin green / digital goals.
Based on examples and pilots developed in the transnational NPA programme, this workshop aims to produce conclusions on the role that technologies, such as, Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence can play in future public service delivery. In that way, successful integration of emerging disruptive digital technologies (VR, AI & IoT) into existing public services will help achieve key ERDF and Cohesion Policy goals for the 2021-2027 period.
The session is targeted at public service providers and digital tech suppliers (universities, research centres, companies) and it aims to identify solutions and challenges. The workshop will be organised through Zoom virtual platform and it will be moderated by ERNACT General Manager Colm Mc Colgan (Ireland), with the participation of the following key speakers:
- Kirsti Mijnhijmer, Head of Secretariat, Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme (Denmark)
- Madeleine Blusi, Researcher, Association of Local Authorities in Västernorrland (Sweden)
- Pierre Baviera, CEO, Derilinx (Ireland)
- Valerie Moreau, Network Manager, Laval Mayenne Technopole (France)
- Jose Manuel San Emeterio, Project Manager, ERNACT (Ireland)
