Description
ERNACT's first International Management Committee (IMC) meeting of 2023 takes place in the City of Timisoara (Romania), European Capital of Culture 2023 on the 10th and 11th of May.
The meeting is kindly hosted by the ERNACT member representing Romania's West Region, the West Regional Development Agency or ARDVEST.
The meeting occurs at an historical inflection point, when one of the most powerful disruptive digital technologies known to humankind, Artificial Intelligence or AI, captures the attention of society, government and politics and moves with incredible speed into the core of business, innovation and service delivery.
The ERNACT network, anticipating this development, will celebrate the approval of a new basket of EU projects with a total investment of €6.6 million, which allows member regions to pilot AI and related disruptive technologies for public service delivery and to study its implications for regional innovation policies. ERNACT regions and cities wish to champion, at regional level, the implementation of AI in accordance with the European values of privacy, transparency, ethics and equality.
AI, in particular, is predicted to impact most jobs and will require Europe's regions and cities to rethink, not just public service delivery, but also innovation, entrepreneurial and investment policy.
AI no doubt is already influencing culture and artistic expression and the hosting of this ERNACT meeting in Timisoara, Europe's Capital of Culture 2023, provides a stimulating environment in which to consider the above questions but also the wider implications for society, community and people.
