The Tourist Guide for the Northern Periphery (TG4NP) project at the University of Ulster has allowed the design and development of a uniquely authored mobile application for the Mussenden/ Downhill site on the north coast of Northern Ireland. (The project is currently in its latter design and development stages and due to be published in mid December). The TG4NP outcome will enable the ream at the university to fully interrogate a tangible mobile application whose primary objective is to provide a uniquely immersive experience at a visitor destination in Northern Ireland.

This tangible outcome has provided a model on which to interrogate and investigate unique features including:

-          Innovation in design strategies for mobile content (where graphics and metaphors have been uniquely developed for the tablet interface)

-          Usability features – (where the full range of interactive interface gestures including pinching, swiping, throwing, balancing, and shaking, have inspired and generated understanding of how gaming models can be used to enhance interpretive experiences)

-          Technology accessibility (delivering of a robust and fully functioning location-based application where data connections are not available and/or desirable)
